Leaving Natchez this morning on my motorcycle,I hit the TRACE and took a trip back in time. The live Oak trees with arms cover in hanging moss drapped over the road.While the pines stood with all their strength tall and proud. Riding along I spotted a young doe on her ridge watching as I pasted, later a young buck with his new growing horns stood watching from under a live oak limb, and then an older doe bolted back into the woods, she knew fear. Pasted over the creeks where those of the past camped to rest as they blazed the way for the furture in that wilderness.
As I contuined through this wilderness I could feel those from ages ago watching me, as to say protect our wood and land. They stood proud , strong, and tall in each of those trees. You could almost hear them talking to you.....guiding you...even touching you. A flock of turkeys stood along a fresh cut field of hay.......the smell was so intense.
I could feel the present of our forefathers...watching.....saying look what we have done for you. I was covered with gooose bumps and really taken a back.
In just a few seconds I was in town and back in the present....with an overwhelming knowledge of sacrifice.

Summer is Over

Summer flew by and I think I missed the flight. Where oh where did my summer go? I ended my summer taking a trip with Chris to Ark and he did some trout fishing. It was great. Havent spent that much time with him in years. WE really had a grand time.
Then a few days later headed to Fla with Sam ( my daughter in law) and sweet Sydney. That was great fun to have the time with my grandbaby. Just the first of many trip I hope we take. I want to show Sydney our country. While we where down there did some swimming in the pool, built sand castles, looked for crabs, went to the Marie show, and did a dolphin watch trip.
Got home on Sunday and I started school that Tuesday. Everything there has gone great this year. Went to Mountain View Ark for the bike rally and will head to Natchez weekend after next for the state Hog rally.
Labor day week end always bring my nephews south for dove hunting. This yea I had 6 guys staying at my house........oh my was that a treat. We were wall to wall air mattresses but it was fun.
Tomorrow LInda will be coming in for the Pillow Homecoming. Our Katherine is a senior maid. Let's hope she is picked for Queen.

SUMMER is OVER

The summer break has come to an end. Go back to school tomorrow for teacher work days, then Thursday the students come for half a day. We will be running full speed Friday.
I had a very nice summer. Did several things and had a few great trips. Went on two long motorcycle rides, visited the mountains with Chris, and the beach trip with Ben and his family.Also went over to visit my sister in law for a few days. Have several things coming up on week ends. Rally in Mtn View Ar, then the hog rally in Natchez in Sept.
Also want to go on a trip during Thanksgiving break. Will have a 10 day break and the McIntyre's arent having their get together. Will see what the boys want to do...

Take the time to spend with your family....their is NOTHING else more important.

Summer is almost gone as far of this school year goes. I have enjoyed my summer so far. Had time with Sydney for fun things, road my motorcycle on a few trips, worked in my garden to share with friends, gone to see family, watch movies, enjoyed time out at the Flats, and just sat home some. Soon we will back to the grindstone and kids. I dont mind going back.......gives me a purpose and makes me feel important.
I do hope to go on at least one more ride, might even leave tomorrow. Looks like most of the south will be getting rain and temps in the mountains are up. Oh well when the mood hits.....Ill be gone.
Then Chris plans to come home for a week, so maybe we can go on a short trip.
Hope all of you have had a great summer, gotten to do somethings you love, and just relaxed.

On the Road

It is wayyyyyyy too HOT in the south for this early in the summer. At the moment I am on my motorcycle doing a road trip. Have already covered a little over a 1000 miles. Should add several hundred more before I pull into Silver City tomorrow.
So far I have traveled the Trace going up to Tenn. Did the bike rally in Lynchburg. Camped in the Hisawnee Ocoee River State Park. Road along the Ocoee River in North Carolina. Headed back south through North GA. Went down the Trail of Tears Highway. Saw a lot of beautiful Civil War time period home that had been restored and lots of livestock country.
I really am not looking forward to going home tomorrow, but need to check on the cat, water, wash clothes, pay bills,get bike serviced.....then Im off again.
Has been great just riding seeing new areas. Stopping and doing what I wanted to . I have talked to people every where I stopped. They , like most of you, think IM totally nuts.............so who told them! ! There was one man that heard me talking to a young couple about my trip , he stopped to say how much he admired me for going for it. That most people just talked about what they wanted but I WAS doing what I wanted. ....Life is too short......it is all about getting your priorities straight. Family, Health, God the rest is just crap that can be gone in a big wind.

Have been out of school now a few weeks. Went on a ride to Longview, Texas this past week end for Party in the Pines rally. Boy was it hot in Texas. Had a great ride, rally was not all that but fun anyway. Since I got home have been looking at what I want to do next. Got my camping gear out today for my motorcycle. Put the little tent up ,checked out the air mattress, and getting all ready to ride. Think Ill take a ride up in the mountains and just camp where ever the mood hits me. When you dont have to pay for rooms can travel cheap and looks like weather next week will be good. Thinking Ill ride up the Trace into Tenn. do some camp sites and just see where the roads take me.

SUMMER IS HERE..........

Cant believe it has been almost a month since I posted on my blog. But this is always my busiest month with school ending, annual, etc. I spent a lot of time working on and finishing the annual. Then at school there was Awards Day, Athletic Banquet,exams, and grades to complete. All is done and now Summer......YEA ! !
Have several things to get done, before I can really get into summer mode. Doctor check up , dentist check up and getting my bike serviced for riding will fill the next several days.
Hopefully next Friday Ill be heading out on my ride to "PARTY in the Pines Rally". Lets hope the weather stays nice for this one. Had to cancel Helena due to storms. I need to get away so looking forward to this. Have asked friends to go , but Ill be going alone. That doesn't bother me any more, except starting to think I stink or something. Guess people just don't like my company :)
Also this month brought concern about Ben having to have a hip replacement. After his visit and MRI they changed his treatment. Got a hip injection yesterday, meds, and will check it out in a few weeks then see if scoping will be necessary.
Spent Mothers day week end down with Chris and that was great. He took me out to eat steaks and rest of the time we just visited. I enjoyed it greatly.
Yesterday I had Sydney for special time with my baby girl. Then she called me this morning crying for Gammie, talk about breaking your heart. So might be going to Cleveland later to pick her up.

GREAT RIDE

Today after school went for a ride. Decided I would ride to Yazoo and go on some of the back roads to see the tornado damage up close. It was unbelievable....houses , trees, cars....all just pushed up in piles like broken twigs. Seemed like I rode in it for miles. That thing went up and down hills missing nothing in its path.
There is no better time of the day to ride than at sunset. When the sun is setting over the tops of the trees, it forms a halo on the tree tops like a crown to GODs work. As I ride my mind goes totally free.........my sense of smell picks up the sweet odor of honeysuckle in full bloom, dirt as fresh as a summer shower, the fragrance of the broken trees from the tornado gives a spectrum of many woods. Passing area of woods the temperature in the air get a swift chill, this awaken me and brings me back into the moment.
Then I'm home ...the ride is over....and back to reality.

Mother's Day is this coming Sunday. This is a time for all children to show the most important person to them , just how much they appreciate them.
As all children do they seem to overlook all the things that MAMA does for them. That Mom is the one and only person that is there for you NO matter what. She will stand by you, wipe your forehead when you are sick, put band aids on those Bow bows, and cry at your wedding. When you call ...she comes running. She is the one you can talk to about anything in the middle of the night. When you need a place to stay in the middle of the night...she gets up to unlock the door.
Your mother..........give her all you can . One day she will be gone.....then you would give anything just to have that one more talk or hug.
Mothers...they are your rock. Just tell her you love her and remind her how important she is to you.
Mama ... I love you even though you are gone. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY......you would be 92 now.

Time has gone by quickly, this school year is almost over. I am looking forward to summer and taking some trips. Planning to take a riding trip and maybe go somewhere with my YA YAs. (Linda and Martha Lou)
Yesterday was a terrible weather day in Mississippi. There was a huge tornado that destroyed a lot of homes, business, and other property. The main area hit was Yazoo City. This storm was on the ground for many miles, starting across the river from Vicksburg then traveling on the ground from Vicksburg to north Mississippi. Some was hit and miss ,while at times it stayed on the ground. The path is cut was about 2/4 mile wide. Today was beautiful.
Sunshine and warm temps sent me out on my motorcycle. Rode about 220 miles. It was a great day.

It has been a while since I put a post on my blog. Don't think anyone evens looks at this any more but I do it as a type of journal for myself. Who knows one day Sydney might look at it and see all the things we did that I wrote about.
With the Internet site most of then are trends any way....people come and go , do it , then stop. But like I said it is a type of journal.
I think around Easter was my last post. Well since then lots has happened. School is flying by.....so much to get done to finish out the year and the annual. The Catfish festival has happened. That was great for me because Chris came home, then Ben and Sydney also come to spend the night and be with us. To have my kids home was great. Only thing was Sam had to work and couldn't join us. Sydney was a mess at the festival..she did the bungee jump (no fear) and ran all over the place. That night Chris went to Greenwood and I attended the HA alumni dance. The Krackerjacks played, saw lot of kid I had in my classes. Then Sunday I went riding my bike and Chris headed home.
Tomorrow I have that luncheon in Jackson for star teacher. Really wish I didn't have to go, but.......... This week end I don't have any set plans. This time of the year there is always something going on with different festival and activities.
Will just see what the weather does and do whatever pops up. But there are several things for me to choose from.
There is a lot of farming going on....know John is busy in his fields. I did see him Easter and went to church up there.
School will be done in about 24 days.....oh my gosh I'm ready. This summer will be fun I hope. Going to take some trips.....ride....see my family....just enjoy.
Have my yard cleaned up and garden is up. So hope to have veggies this summer.

The EASTER week end was really nice. I got to keep Sydney and we had fun, but man she wore me out.....We dyed eggs, played, went out to eat, took pictures at Wister Gardens. Now that was a challenge.. She has her own way she wants to do things......and it can make you pull your hair out.
Then I went up to John's and we went to hear Meagan Rea sing. Saturday ...off to Carrollton for crawfish.Well we got there and they were out.......more ready at 7 so Greenwood then back to Carrollton.Need less to say we still had to wait. I'm not very patience. Thank goodness John is.
Today was church at the Minter City Methodist....that is the nicest church. Followed by a feast at Mama Smiths.
Came home cleaned my bike ...so tomorrow will be my day to ride before back to school.

It is mid week before we observe Easter. Hope everyone will keep the real meaning in their hearts and on their minds, while they enjoy this wonderful day. He died , rose, and Jesus Christ saved us all.
Going to keep Sydney Thursday night and Friday. Takeing her to Wister Garden will try to get some good pictures. Think we will dye some eggs ....I have never gotten to do that with her. Might be a big mistake but hey ...we'll take the stuff outside and have fun.
Then Friday night going to Greenwood to listen to Meagan Rae sing. Will enjoy church in Minter City with John, after service have dinner with the Smith clan Sunday.
HAPPY EASTER to everyone.

Friday I got home from taking some of my student to Ole Miss, and decide to get on my bike and ride. Well I hit the road about 5 that afternoon. Headed south on I55 and before you know it , I saw the sign that said "welcome to LA". So in a while I was in Hammond. Got to the room, talked to some people there, and found out the Hog rally was going on. The girls name was Pam and they invited me to go with them to the rally. So Sat. morning we all got on our bike and went to the rally for a group ride to New Orleans. Visited the WWII museum ...that was good. Then I ate some supper and headed back to my room. This morning (Sunday) got up and stuck out for home. Rode some back roads and made it in about 5. The farther north I came the colder it got.Had a good time. Better than sitting home alone for sure.

Back in school now that spring break is over, with only 40 days left in this year. Then out for the summer. Of course, the weather during our break was not the best. We had the whole spectrum of weather conditions. Cloudy, cold, rainy, snow, sunny, warm, windy.......you name it we had it. Didnt get in much riding time. All in all it was a nice break. I saw a few movies, kept Sydney, rode, went to visit friends,and ate out some.
The next few weeks in school will be very busy. This time of the year is always a rush to finish my work.
I have a couple of rallies I am planning to go to, Catfish Festival , Easter break, and the year end.
This summer Im looking at riding out west, or at least ride in that directions. When I get tired Ill come home. Also hope to go on a short trip with the YA YA's. Want to take Sydney to do something special.....who knows what that might be but will figure something out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYDNEY.......GAMMIE LOVES YOU

It was such a nice week end. The weather was good for a change, then Linda and the girls were at my house. We ate, drank, and talked......did a lot of laughing also. Took Linda and Jenny for short rides on my motorcycle Sat. never thought that would happen. Then Millie, Mandy , and Mary Haley had to leave. So later, the 3 of us went for a short trip to Madison, Jenny wanted to look around some. We ate dinner at AJ's dont know if Ill go back there or not. Got back to my house early ....talked more then we all hit the sack. Sunday they got ready, loaded up, and headed home.I took off on my bike for a ride. Came home about 2 to do yard work. I didnt know when I would have another nice day.Pruned roses, raked and burned leaves, clean out martin house, hung martin house,trimmed crepe myrtles, after that I was done. Really done, didnt know if I would be able to walk today my knees were killing me. Not to mention I thought I had broken the bones in my shoulder. Trying to put a 20 foot pole up onto another pole with bird houses on the end is not an easy task for an old lady.It slipped and fell on to my shoulder. Sore today but nothing permanent I dont think. Have a wonderful week. Next week is exams, then SPRING BREAK......oh glory. YES YES YES Im ready. Just hope the weather is good...........Ill be riding, looking to get in a short trip maybe 4 or 5 days.

Finally a wonderful week end here in Mississippi. The temp was nice and we had sunshine. Friday after school came home and gave my poor Taffy a hair cut. That little dog was so pitiful.....she looked more like a shaggy rug. But now she is beautiful again and smells nice.Then I mowed my yard to clean up the leaves and twigs. Did house work Sat. morning early, put out some roundup for the weeds, then hopped on my bike and took off. Ended up in Greenwood. Went by dance to see what they were learning, then road home. It was dark and a great night to ride. A little nip in the air but not cold and the stars were beautiful.
Headed down to Jackson today saw a movie, ate some oysters, then home. New day tomorrow.....this week will be busy. Soon spring break ...OH YEA.... I need that.

The day of love has come and gone. I know everyone got to spend time with that person most cherished in there heart.
Now on the other hand ....the big issue on every ones mind has got to be this weather. Here in Mississippi we just don't get this much cold or snow. Not saying I don't like it, but enough is enough. The days are getting longer and NOW, it is time to ride.
The bikers of the world have been house bond wayyyyyyyyyyy too long. There is a glimpse of warmer temps and sun in the forecast for this week end. Lets all hope and pray for a little break. Let the sunshine.........

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY.........It has been a nice day . I went to Jackson to return a dress I had ordered for the ball/ Since I ordered 2 only needed one. Got some shoes also. Guess I'm about ready for that occasion.
On the way home I decided to stop in Yazoo to see the VALENTINES DAY movie.....it was so cute and fun.
Since this is the day of love.........this beautiful little girl is the love of my life. She called me this morning to say " Gammie HAPPY BALENTINES DAY....and I love you this much." When we say that to each other, we hold our arms out as wide as we can. I just love it when she calls me........she is always so excited to tell me her news.
GREAT day to everyone....open your heart and happiness will be there for you.

My how time does truly fly............in just a few days my baby boy, Chris will be 30 years old.He will be so mad for me saying that. Since he is 6ft 3 he doesn't think he is a baby, but always my baby. I'm going down to Pineville to see him for his birthday and take him out to dinner. For sure we will not go to Sonic or Burger King, most of his meal come from those places.
Then home again Sat. morning for ballroom dance class.
Also I will make a run to Cleveland Thursday after school to see my sweet Sydney and take her a little Valentines happy. She is getting frogs from her Gammie this year. Ben said that would be great because she has been asking him to get a boat. Then he can catch fish while she will catch FROGS.
Sunday is the day of LOVE....Valentines Day. Ill probably go to a movie or something that afternoon. My love to all those that have a place in my heart.
